Book Review: The Earl She Should Never Desire by Lara Temple.

Lara Temple is one of my favourite authors and I'm so grateful when she sends me her books to read. Thank you Lara! It's taken me a minute to get round to it, but then coincidentally I picked it up just as I started season 2 of Bridgerton, which actually couldn't have been more perfect!!

The Blurb.

This very handsome earl...

Is the one man she cannot fall for...

War widow Lily Walsh has left her aristocratic family behind, but she can't deny her younger sister's request to come to London to meet her fiance. Though it's not a love match, Lord Sherbourne is kind, amusing, and ideal for her sister on paper. But as Lily gets to know him she finds him alarmingly attractive! And the forbidden look in the Earl's eyes shows the feeling is mutual...

My Review.

Diving into Lily and Marcus's world, while simultaneously watching Bridgeton was a real treat! It felt like I could read and go into my imaginary world, but then I could put on an episode and watch it play out in front of me. I loved that!! I know there are a lot of period dramas out there, but I've only ever watched Bridgeton and one of the things I enjoyed about it was seeing my favourite historical fiction characters, stories, outfits, etc, come to life on the screen. I did in fact make me go back and watch a couple of movies set way back when and I do love them so! :)

Lara's writing immediately draws me in no matter what. I can count on her to give me a story that I can get behind, love and curl up on my couch with well into the evening. I loved Lily's character from the moment I met her. She was kind, caring, knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid of being different. She was a great sister, so naturally I felt for her in what felt like an impossible situation at first!! What was she to do though? Her and Lord Sherbourne had chemistry from the moment they met!!

The feelings between Lily and Lord Sherbourne were bubbling to the surface each time they met. It was page turning and swoon worthy and I couldn't get enough of it!! The two were meant for each other! Lord Sherbourne was a fine man. I appreciated his predicament, but also loved his solution and non egotistical confidence in suggesting it. He was simple a cool gentleman who I very much enjoyed reading about!

If you're a fan of Bridgerton and particularly love the second season, as well as, brilliant writing by fantastic authors then I highly recommend 'The Earl She Should Never Desire.'*

Happy Reading!
