Book Review: Staying Out For The Summer by Mandy Baggot.

After a year and a half of staying in, who wouldn't want to spend a summer in Greece?? Thank you Aria fiction for this review copy of 'Staying Out For The Summer.'

The Blurb.

This is one summer that won't end in tiers!

For NHS nurse, Lucie Burrows, it's time to put the past behind her and embrace Greek life.

Finally free from the UK restrictions, Lucie is excited for the summer of 2021. When her best friend, Gavin, finds the perfect Greek island getaway, Lucie is sure that this holiday to Corfu is going to be one to remember.

But when a landslide puts the village into a local lockdown, Lucie is thrown together with Michalis Andino, the super sexy village doctor. It's not quite the escape she had planned, but things could certainly be worse.

As Lucie relaxes into the Greek way of life, she begins to wonder whether this lockdown might just end in a new beginning – and a new love...

My Review.

I have to admit, I wasn't sure what to expect reading a story about covid times, while we were still going through it. It was strange in part to have something so real and raw, but it was obviously very relatable and heartfelt, because I could understand and really grasp what Lucie's life had been like. Obviously not to the full extent, I can still only imagine what the nurses and doctors went through and it breaks my heart, but I knew what she had been dealing with on a real life level if that makes any sense?

Greece is a place I do have on my wish list as somewhere to visit. It sounds beautiful and I love the food! The Mediterranean lifestyle appeals to me and this book helped cement that fact, from the descriptions of the stunning scenery, to the beaches, villa and locals, it very much made me want to be there right now!

I liked it when Lucie began to relax and settle into her holiday because she deserved it and needed it. I wanted her to allow herself that time and enjoy it, which thankfully she was able to with a little help from the local doctor, Michalis. Their stories were both full of heartache so I'm glad they found each other and could offer each other some joy and love away from all the sadness. It made me happy.

There were plenty of laughs, crazy times and adventure to be had under the Corfu sun. It was definitely not a holiday I'd forget any time soon! It goes to show what sun, sea, sand, great food and good people can do! :) If you're looking for a little extra sunshine, I'd recommend 'Staying Out For The Summer,' today!

Happy Reading!
Love,
