It's Publication Week for 'The Little Barn of Dreams!'

I'm so excited to be putting this blog together this morning for there are only three days left to go until Publication Day for 'The Little Barn of Dreams.'  I'm always filled with a mixture of nervous energy and joy at getting to introduce you to the characters that have been a apart of me for the past year.

A bit about 'The Little Barn of Dreams.'

Can two dreamers find love in the real world?

When quirky bookworm Florence Danver loses her job, she knows it's time to make some serious changes. Nanna Margot encourages Flo to spend a week at Camp Calla Lily, where she hasn't been since she lost her parents. Her return is filled with bittersweet memories... until she meets Jo Hadlee.

Soon enough, Flo and fellow dreamer Jo are inseparable as they connect over books and build castles in the air. But when Jo leaves suddenly for his job in London, the fantasy bubble bursts and real-life comes roaring back in.

For Florence to turn her fairy-tale summer into a happily-ever-after, she'll have to dive head-first into real life and all its chaos.

I started writing 'The Little Barn of Dreams' back in April last year after being truly inspired by 'Little Women' and the adventure between the pages of Louisa May Alcott's classic. I'd like to say that this book is the most whimsical, out of the five that I have now written, and Florence and Jo's worlds were built on such imagination and daring to dream.

Florence is a bookworm, completely absorbed in the worlds she see's in her head and she finds it incredibly difficult to navigate society. She has faith in her books and is safe knowing they can't hurt her. Jo too doesn't quite fit into societies roles or dare I say stereotypes. He's a dreamer and all about bringing to life what he visualises in his head. When the two of them meet, they make for a beautiful pairing.

The adventures that unfold throughout their story captured my heart and I loved dreaming alongside them. I hope their story is able to connect with those who are looking for adventure or who might be too afraid to jump and take a chance. I hope Florence and Jo's story might inspire compassion in how we treat others, knowing that sometimes things that are easy for some might not be so easy for others and with that too, give that compassion to yourself and don't compare yourself to others. Who you are is just right for you and so incredibly beautiful!

'The Little Barn of Dreams' came to life very clearly in my mind and every scene was extremely vivid and colourful, so much so that I was desperate to see a particular scene come to life at the hands of the amazing Nora Racz. Nora is an illustrator and Kelly and I have adored her illustrations ever since we laid eyes on them. (You can follow her on Instagram @noridraws.) And so in preparation for publication day and upcoming giveaways, I commissioned a very special piece from Nora...

(Please be sure to credit Nora if sharing this picture!)

How absolutely gorgeous is this illustration of Florence and Jo?!!!! It's already on my wall in my office. I adore it! Nora is incredible and I love her pieces so very much! I can't say too much about this scene as I don't want to spoil the story, but I hope it makes you smile as much as it made me when writing it! Also, look out for some giveaways that I will be doing over the summer with this beautiful print! Thank you Nora for bringing this special moment to life!

What do you think?

I hope you all have the most beautiful day and I hope you enjoyed hearing a little more about 'The Little Barn of Dreams.' There's still time to pre-order it or you can wait for this Thursday July 8th for publication day!

All my love!
