You guys know that I LOVE Katie Ginger, yes in all capitals, she is awesome and brilliant and so you know I was super excited about diving into her latest, and festive, read 'Winter Wishes at Swallowtail Bay.'

Blurb

hristmas and romance are in the air and Nell is obsessed! She can’t stop watching her favourite Christmas romcoms and dreaming of the day when she meets her own romantic hero, especially as she is hosting the first ever wedding at her small hotel, Holly Lodge.

Nell’s best friend, Tom, has been in love with her ever since they met. But Nell has never seen him that way, and he’s always kept his feelings a secret in case it ruins their friendship.

After the opening of the glamorous Langdon Mansion Hotel in the bay, Nell’s hotel is struggling for survival and she must fight, with Tom’s help, to keep Holly Lodge open. Can the magic of Christmas help two old friends save Holly Lodge and open Nell’s eyes to a love that was always there the whole time?

My Review

I was very giddy about heading back to Swallowtail Bay as the first two books in the series 'Spring Tides at Swallowtail Bay' and 'Summer Strawberries at Swallowtail Bay' were absolute delights. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the little beach village and therefore couldn't wait to meet more of its residents.

I really loved Nell right off the bat. I loved that she liked romance stories and fairy tales and that she often dreamed up scenarios and events in her head. Can you say relatable? Her friendship with Cat was so lovely and I immediately wanted to jump right into their clique. Also, I think I spent the majority of this book planning ways of how I could just up and buy a small lodge somewhere and create the most beautiful and quaint little hotel. Nell's passion for Holly Lodge, and the extra detail and care she put into it, truly made me smile. It sounded so wonderful and cosy and I could picture myself at the front desk helping out. I really wanted to attend the weddings and parties and wreath making workshop, that's definitely now something that I need to put on my list for next year.

Speaking of weddings, I was eagerly turning the pages wanting to make sure that Cat got her dream day. I was willing her to let her fiancé help her and for her to stand up to her Mum and I was on the edge of my seat when she started flirting with the caterer. I was very much about to jump into the book yelling "Cat!!!!! What are you doing?" because Kieran came across as such a good person that I didn't want anything bad to happen to them. You must read the book if you want to know how that pans out. I'm not saying anymore...eeek!

As I mentioned above, the friendship between Nell and Cat was beautiful, it broke my heart when they argued but I loved that they were so close that they could be honest with each other and let each other see the other at their worst and still be there for them and get through it together. Another friendship that made my heart soar was Nell and Tom. Tom came across as the most gorgeous and lovable guy and half the time I just wanted to give him a massive hug. He was just sweet and kind and considerate and made me smile so much. I liked how he and Nell had this comfortable relationship, how they naturally just did things together and were there for each other. I adored that they spent Christmases together and how they had movie nights and how Tom provided the most exquisite décor for her hotel at any given time. Speaking of which, I adored his passion for his job as a florist too and very much wanted to pop into his shop and order a stunning Christmas garland myself, they all sounded amazing. Tom's journey throughout this story was extremely heart wrenching and like I said, I just wanted to wrap him up in a hug. I could feel the care and the love Nell had for him, how she wanted to protect him and be by his side and it warmed my heart. The positive outlook he worked on was inspirational and the people around him who showed their support, well it was all just magic.

Another thing I really enjoyed about this beautiful book was checking in with the characters from the previous books. Hetty was one of my favourites so I liked that Nell picked up some tips from her when it came to organization and planning. I also loved hearing about a few other characters and at what stages they were at in their relationships. It's a must read!

'Winter Wishes at SwallowTail Bay' is a cosy, festive, beautiful and gorgeous story that will wrap around your heart and squeeze it tight in the best way. Katie created such a delightful series in Swallowtail Bay that I highly recommend you check out today!!

Happy reading.

Love
