Book Review: Live to Fly Another Day by Eliza Watson.

Caity Shaw is back and oh how I adore getting these books in the post! Thank you so much Eliza, because it's such a beautiful collection to have on my bookshelf - I love it! This book series has been such a fun adventure for me over the last few years. I very much enjoy catching up with Caity and Declan and couldn't wait to find out what was in store for them this time.

What’s a girl to do when her dreams go down the loo?

Caity Shaw has finally found her place in the world when she moves to her grandmother’s homeland, Ireland. A new full-time event planner job, a steady paycheck, and less travel are providing her a more stable and balanced lifestyle. She is able to focus on nurturing her relationships with family, friends, and Declan—who has taught her to once again believe in love and herself.

Caity’s lack of meeting planning experience and having to run off to England to visit an ill newfound rellie soon jeopardize her job. And when she uncovers this rellie’s mysterious life, her entire family must come to his aid and Caity’s personal life turns upside down. Despite her growing client list and passion for genealogy research, Caity feels inept after she fails to trace even one of her clients’ ancestry lines. Then Caity faces her biggest research challenge to date. She’s unable to locate her grandmother’s birth record. Without it, Caity will not be able to obtain citizenship and remain in Ireland.

If she is forced to leave Ireland, she fears she’ll lose everything she’s worked so hard to attain—her sense of identity, direction, and belonging, and most importantly, her relationship with Declan.

My Review.

Once again Caity finds herself in a situation that most of us will experience in life. She is working hard at a job she thought she wanted/needed, while pursuing her passion on the side and wondering if that could be a full time deal. She's also desperately trying to find all the information she needs to obtain citizenship in a place she has fallen in love with, thanks to her Grandmother. Take it from someone who knows, gaining citizenship to any country is no easy task. You have to give it a lot of time, pay attention to detail and try not to slip up over one silly mistake - it happens!!! I have an American one thanks to my husband, but like Caity I've often wondered about getting one for Italy. Some say it should be simple since both our grandparents are Italian, but we're not 100% convinced!!

Anywho, back to Caity! She's trying to juggle her work load at a job she's still learning the ropes for and she's refusing to ask her sister for help, because she doesn't want her to think she's in way over her head. A quality I do admire about Caity is that, you know when you have those moments in life where you think "Oh no, someone has just told me to do something and I feel like I can't say I don't have a clue, so I'm just going to have to figure it out?" those moments? Yeah, well Caity has a lot of those and while inside she might be freaking out and while occasionally she may have help from her lovely boyfriend, she often just figures it out and gets on with them. I think that's what's drawn me to her from the beginning, that and the fact that she wants to help people and has a very 'if I have an idea i'm going to do it' kind of nature.

This story was quite sweet in that Caity wanted to help an Uncle she only just discovered she had. The fact that he was family meant Caity literally dropped everything and wanted to use her new found event planning skills for good. It also gave her a distraction from a job she was starting to question whether or not she wanted. I think that's very relatable. The idea that your passion starts to take over and you find yourself more and more drawn to do what you love. Sometimes you just have to go for it and step out of your comfort zone and give your dreams a chance.

That and the fact that I do so very much love Declan made for a thoroughly enjoyable read and guess what...there's another Caity adventure coming in Autumn! Yay! I love that I don't have to say bye to her yet! What's next for her and Declan? I can't wait to find out!

Happy Reading!
