Mangia: Pasta Bake.

Pasta and Cheese! Now if they aren't two of the best ingredients for any recipe, any time, any day then we don't know what are! We will pretty much say yes to them without fail on any occasion and when you put the two together they are a match made in heaven!

Pasta in general reminds us of Nanna and Grandad's house. There was always a plate waiting for us whenever we needed it and nowadays we love nothing more than making it ourselves for Nanna to see if we got the sauce just right. Pasta bake isn't something Nanna and Grandad ever made, but Nanna is always so sweet about trying out new dishes that we take her each weekend and she will sit and happily munch away nodding her head in approval, which makes us so happy.

Pasta is a family affair, plain and simple. There is always enough, if not way more than enough to go around. It's a dish that warrants every family member around the table, or friends pulling up a chair if they've popped round at a good time. It's homely, it's delicious and it's incredibly comforting.

What you need:

1 500g packet of farfalle pasta.
1 400g tin of tomatoes.
1 250g packet of mild cheddar cheese.
1 500g pack of minced meat. (5% fat)
1 small onion.
A couple of celery leaves from the top of a celery stick.
Olive oil.
Salt and Pepper.

What to do:

Boil the pasta as instructed on the packet.

While the pasta is cooking, heat a saucepan with a tbsp of olive oil.

Dice the onion and add it to the pan. Allow to brown a little before adding the minced meat with a dash of salt and pepper.

Blend the tin of tomatoes so they are smooth and once the meat has browned, add the tomato to the saucepan. Add the celery leaves and leave to simmer for at least 20 minutes.

When the pasta is cooked, drain and add it to the saucepan with the meat sauce. Mix it together till combined then place in a oven proof dish. If you have too much pasta for your saucepan save it for a cheesy pasta bake!!

Spread the pasta out evenly and then sprinkle cheese all over the top - you can also put cheese on the bottom of the dish, before you add the pasta. How much cheese is too much cheese!? :)

Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 20 minutes.

Buon Appetito!
