There was something about this book from the moment I saw Carina UK tweet about it, that called to me. I had never read one of Portia MacIntosh's books (that's all about to change) and I hadn't even read what the book was about, but I just knew looking at it that I wanted to read it.
I was eagerly awaiting it's arrival on Netgalley so that I didn't have to wait too long. Maybe it was the simple title or possibly the ridiculously cute cover, because let's face it, it's eye catchingly (think I made up a word) cute. Whatever it was, I'm thankful because I really really enjoyed Truth or Date, so much so that I have just finishing reading it, it took me all of 2 days! I wanted so badly to savor the story but I just couldn't put it down. It sucked me in and I just had to keep turning the page!

Ruby Wood is 27. She works in a coffee shop, loves getting drunk with her awesome best friend, doesn't take life too seriously and goes on date after date with weirdos she meets on a dating app. She shares an apartment with gorgeous doctor Nick, which might sound fun but he's boring, a neat freak and they can't stand each other. Until, one night Ruby has a very sexy dream about him, one she would soon rather forget, but it seems like her mind has other ideas. Ruby isn't having any of it though so there's only one thing for her to do, forget about admitting the truth and date, date, date!

At first, Ruby surprised me a little with her abrupt nature and mouth of a sailor but once I got accustomed to her, I found her to be rather brilliant. She's a no nonsense kind of girl who isn't afraid to speak her mind and accepts herself for who she is, control tights aside. She's refreshing, she's fun and if I'm honest, she makes me wish I could be a little more like her. Her mate Millsy is also just as hilarious and fun. I love the way the two interact with each other. they are the true definition of girls and guys being able to be best friends and nothing more, it was such a laugh to read about their adventures and the way they look out for each other but also aren't afraid to throw each other under the bus! Then theirs Nick, the doctor, the flatmate, the object of Ruby's frustrating dreams. I couldn't help but find him fascinating because even when Ruby describes all of his faults, they only made me want to know more about him and see a different side to him. All of the characters in this book are so unique and so interesting, they make quite the fascinating cast. With Ruby as lead, you get taken on one crazy ride and it's just so much fun.

This story has humor, romance, friendship, adventure and so much more. I feel like I'm in danger of repeating myself because I'm trying to find the right words that describe just how much fun this book is. Ooh let me see if this analogy works. This book is like you have been dragged to a rave by your crazy yet awesome best friend where you spend the night meeting the most insane characters but you're happy because it's life and you're supposed to enjoy it, right? There is lots going on but at the same time it's easy to take it all in and smile because nights like these are ones for the memory book! :) Just in case that didn't make sense, it translates to, this book is tons of fun and you should definitely read it. My only criticism is that it wasn't longer! Ha not a bad one right? :)

Pick up Truth or Date now! :)

Happy Reading!
