Kristan Higgins is just perfect! I
read 'Just one of the guys' on a nine hour road trip and was smiling, swooning
and laughing all the way. This book completed all of Kristan Higgins older
novels, so with the exception of 'If you only knew,' I am all caught up with
her books! :) Her writing is brilliant and within the first few pages, you
can't help but just settle in to her style and characters.
In this story we meet Chastity, one
of five, with four brothers, who are all firefighters with wives and children. Chastity
herself is journalist and just the thought of blood and gore gets her all
clammy and lightheaded. At 31 years old, she's ready for a family of her own but
she just has to find the right guy, preferably not related!! The problem is,
all the guys she hangs around with see her as one of them and if they didn't,
they would be too scared to date the O'Neill girl. There is of course, one guy
she has her sights set on, but she's known him since she was ten, so surely he
doesn't see her in that way??! That guy is Trevor, a
firefighter with big muscles and an even bigger heart. He's the best friend,
the shoulder to cry on and pretty much an adopted member of the family. Can Chastity make him see her in that way? Will her brothers allow it? There's only one way you're going to find out!! ;)
Chastity is hilarious! The book is written in first person, so you really feel like you are with
Chastity on her journey and it makes for such a fun ride. She is definitely
best friend material and you stay with her every step of the way, through her
heartache, self-defense classes, getting through her fears and family trouble,
all of it. You cry with her, laugh with her, feel her pain and frustration,
it's just a wonderful read. As for Trevor, I guarantee you will fall in love with him, it's extremely hard not to. The interactions between him and Chastity will have you smiling from ear to ear and Trevor in general will just have you swooning. I loved them both so much.
If you haven't yet picked up one of
the many Kristan Higgins books we have already reviewed, then please, please
start here and I assure you, you will end up working through the whole lot of
them just like me. I am so glad I found her and just know you will be too! :)
Pick up 'Just one of the guys' today.
Happy Reading.
I must admit that I have never read any of her books! But I just read your description of this one and it seems like such a lovely book, I'm gonna see if I can get it somewhere here!
ReplyDeleteAww yay! Thank you for reading! I definitely recommend them. My absolute favourites of hers are The Blue Heron series. You just get to know and the love the characters so much! Enjoy and let me know what you think! :) xx
