Celebrity weddings, sexy rockstars,
gorgeous gowns, quaint villages, delicious cupcakes...need I go on? This book
has it all and more.
Daisy James' "If the dress fits" was a
delightful read. I couldn't help smiling when I put it down. This is the story
of Callie, owner of Callie-Louise bridal boutique, she is currently knee
deep in pearls and lace as she has her sights set on winning a competition to
dress famous celebrity Lilac Verbois on her wedding day. It's the biggest
wedding of the year and could be fantastic for her company. However, after a
heartbreaking event occurs Callie has to step away from her little boutique in
London and head back to her home of Allthorpe, in Yorkshire, to deal with
her sudden ownership of Gingerberry Yarns, her Auntie's haberdashery. Going
home opens up a lot of old wounds for Callie, can she reconnect with old
friends she seemed to have left behind? What will happen when
she encounters her soul mate again after running away from him 3
years prior? Can she possibly be in two places at once and run the haberdashery
as well as her bridal boutique? Does she actually want to take on the
haberdashery? You will have to pick up a copy to find out! :) I adore
small towns and books that have that cozy, homey vibe and Daisy James did this
so well with Gingerberry Yarns and Allthorpe. I very much wanted to make a
visit and thoroughly enjoyed diving in each time I turned the pages. In
addition, I loved the journey that Callie goes on throughout this
book and how she pulls through troubled times with the help of those
around her. She is an independent girl, who isn't afraid of hard work and
going after what she wants. Yet at the same time, we get to see her grow and
face her fears in other aspects of her life and learn that, just like with her
bridal shop, you have to follow your heart in matters of love too and
not just work. Furthermore, her creativity was fun and inspiring and I
found myself wishing I could be a apart of Cupcakes and Couture. I'd happily
learn how to make the most elegant pieces of lingerie and stylish jumpers
while nibbling on the most mouthwatering cupcakes you've ever come across.
I was drooling, Daisy James described them so deliciously. :)Pick up a copy of 'If the Dress Fits' today!
Happy Reading!
