An Interview with author Katy Colins!

We are so excited today to bring you this interview with Katy Colins, amazing travel blogger, author of 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club' series and all round inspiring and lovely person.
We fell in love with Katy when we read her first book 'Destination Thailand' and her second installment 'Destination India' firmly cemented that love. Please check out our review over on 'Books are always in style' where we delve a little more into our love for Katy Colins and why she is so awesome in our 'Destination India' review! :) Thank you so much Katy for taking the time out to be a apart of our blog, we thoroughly enjoyed reading your answers! :)

1) Your new book 'Destination India' is out now, it is a wonderful read, what was the most interesting experience you had in India?

Thank you, I’m so glad you enjoyed Destination India as I had such a great time writing it! I guess seeing the Taj Mahal was the most amazing part of my time in India. I had seen this iconic building over the years and always dreamt about seeing it with my own eyes, so when I achieved that I was very emotional!

2) What's your favourite part about the whole book process? Writing? Editing? Holding the final copy?

I love the writing part and watching characters come to life on the page and getting to hang out with them all day. Also, hearing from readers, reading lovely reviews and getting to see my books in the shops are just incredible and something I am still trying to get my head round!

We have the ability to travel the world with the click our fingers for one day...

3) Where would you take us for Breakfast?

I’d probably plump for an all-day breakfast at a greasy spoon in London; to line our stomachs for the adventuring ahead. This may be the Northern girl in me, but you can’t beat a bit of black pudding.

4) So, after we have divulged in a delicious breakfast, we are up for a little adventure and exploring, where would be the ideal place to take us?

Every time I visit Marrakesh, Morocco, I love getting lost in the winding alleyways of the souks. It is such an enchanting place and perfect for exploring before maybe indulging in some shopping!

5) After all that exploring we are feeling peckish, where would we go for lunch?

I have just come back from Australia and had the most incredible meal at The Glenmore Hotel in Sydney. It was so amazing eating fresh fish overlooking the Opera House – a definite lunch with a view!

6) Our stomachs are full and we feel a little relaxation and calm is in order, where could we get some peace and quiet with a fantastic view?
You have to head to Thailand – perfect to laze on white sandy shores or chill out at one of the many Buddhist temples dotted around the place. I wrote my debut novel Destination Thailand because of how much I fell in love with this beautiful country.

7) We are feeling rejuvenated and are ready for a history lesson, what monument or sight would be an absolute must see?

Apart from the Taj Mahal in India I also felt that goose bump tingles when I saw Machu Picchu with my own eyes. This stunning site in Peru is totally jaw-dropping and one of those sites you need to see soon before they change the way tourists can explore the area.

8) Our stomachs are rumbling, it's time for dinner, the sun is slowly setting, where would be the perfect dinner location?

I think we may be getting a little tired so let’s relax with a fresh barbecue on the blissful beaches of Goa? With our bare feet in the sand and our stomachs full of spicy curry and charcoaled fish we can watch lanterns being set off over the ocean.

9) It's been a busy day travelling the world but we are making the most of every second, we want to experience the best nightlife around, where are we going?

Well for one of the craziest nights of your life you have to experience the legendary Full Moon Party on Koh Phangnan, Thailand. I can guarantee that you will have one night you won’t forget for a long time!

10) Finally, it's time to curl up and get a little shut eye, where is your favourite place you have ever stayed?

I backpacked through South America and had such a great stay at this tiny wooden cabin in the middle of Patagonia, Chile which actually made an appearance in my third novel Destination Chile, which is out 22nd September. There is something about roaring log fires and snuggly thick blankets that guarantees the bet night’s sleep!
