Happy Friday! Hello Fall! :)

Ok, so we know it is only just September and technically isn't officially Fall until the 23rd of this month, but we have to admit that since moving to America, we have definitely been sucked in to all the excitement over Pumpkin everything, Fall decor and those warm cozy feelings the minute Summer starts to recede and a leaf falls off a tree! As much as we love the sunshine, seeing people at the pool and the weekend cook outs, there is just something about that time of the year when the nights get darker, the air is crisp and cool and you feel like the only thing you should be doing is wearing big jumpers, sitting by a fire and reading a book with a Pumpkin flavored hot drink. With that being said, we thought we would each share with you some of our favourite things about Fall...or should we say Autumn!? :p

Kelly! I was actually talking to my husband about Fall the other day and whether I prefer this season here or at home. Funnily enough, I enjoy all the hype and seeing the decorations in shops over here but when I actually think about Fall and what it means and why I love the coziness of it all, the thoughts are all of home. (England) For whatever reason, my immediate memories are of working at my old primary school, St Winifred's, and looking out onto the playground, as the leaves are all bustling about and the sky is darker than usual. The sense of listening to the chatter of the kids, being inside a warm classroom while you know the weather is changing and you have to bundle up to walk home, just makes me feel happy and content. Like that safe environment is somewhat elevated by the change of the season! This may explain why I like looking out of the window and watching it rain while snuggled up inside!
Fall also makes me happy because it's full of my favourite Holidays! I love Halloween and Bonfire Night (5th Nov) memories of toffee apples, when Mum would allow us to have them, chestnuts and sparklers in the back garden are just some of my favourite childhood memories of Guy Fawkes night back home. Then of course Fall leads into Winter and my beloved Christmas...don't get me started!!
It's safe to say that while I do love all things Pumpkin, Cinnamon and seeing an array of brown and orange adorning every shop, when it comes to this time of year, I would have to say it's the memories and that cozy feeling I keep talking about that make me love it most! There really is just something about being snuggled up by a fire with a hot cup in your hand, chatting, watching TV or reading a book! :)

Lucy: I must say that I have to agree with everything Kelly said above. Fall does indeed make me think of walking to work (St Winifred's) when the floor is covered in soggy, sometimes crisp, leaves and I have a scarf wrapped tightly round me. When I think Fall, I just think warmth and coziness, and I think that's what thinking of home gives me, a warm heart and a sense of comfort. However, I do absolutely adore how Americans seem to really embrace each season. I think the UK is picking up things here and there and shops start to decorate a little more, but America really does go all out and I love it. I love seeing all the Fall decorations everywhere you go and I love that, that in turn inspires me to decorate our apartment and be creative. This time of year definitely brings out another side to my creativity and I get excited over DIY's and baking. After all, there are endless possibilities to how one can decorate a pumpkin or what one can make with cinnamon. :) I'm definitely a stay at home on a Friday night kind of person and when it's Fall it makes me feel like that's ok, like the sunshine, BBQ's and pool's aren't trying to tempt me outside, and the dark, cool nights and the howling winds are telling me to curl  up with my notebook and Chris, light my many candles, and put my feet up by the fire with a warm mug of coffee. Eeek, I feel giddy just thinking about it. Furthermore, I'd have to say that I think Fall would be my favourite season for fashion. Everything about jumpers, leggings and boots are simply perfection to me. I definitely feel my most comfortable in a snuggly jumper. :) Ooh and don't get me started on all the gold, browns, orange and berry makeup tutorials that Fall brings, I always thought I was a more of a summer makeup kind of girl but there's just something about those warm colours that make me happy. I can't wait to watch what my favourite gurus come up with. I am going to be counting down the days until the official start of Fall now, when trips to Michaels craft store will be a must, caving in to buying a Starbucks pumpkin latte is bound to happen, and Harry Potter will be the choice for every single movie night.

Thinking about all these things has definitely got us into the spirit of the season and counting down the days till we can get out our jumpers and coats! What are some of your favourite things about Fall? Do you embrace the season or count down the days till Summer begins again? :)

Happy Friday!
Lucy and Kelly
