And we danced all night...

If you follow my sister and I on twitter ( @theblossontwins ) or watch us on our YouTube channel,   you will know that we are currently enjoying some much needed family time in jolly old England. While home, we spend the majority of our time at our Nanna and Grandad's house: cooking, listening to music with Grandad and just treasuring every moment spent in their company. We like to catch up on TV shows we miss. "Surprise, Surprise" or "The Graham Norton Show" anyone? and pretty much just love getting back into our normal home routine. In the last three years though we have added something else to our "being at home traditions list" one that I hope we can continue to do for a long time. It involves a lot of singing, dancing and is the BEST night out you could imagine. I'm talking about seeing The Overtones live!!

For those of you who don't know who The Overtones are, they are a five piece band consisting of five men from Ireland, the UK and Australia. Timmy, Mike, Mark, Lachie and Darren. They've gone from being painters and decorators to touring the UK and are currently on their fourth album. And to put it simply they are absolutely AMAZING!

It's no secret that I love all things 50's, we have grown up listening to The Temptations and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons with our Dad on the way to cars shows, and love the 50's and 60's music scene. Well so do The Overtones! Their last two albums "Saturday Night at the movies" and currently "Sweet Soul Music" have been a mix of cover songs from those eras as well as their own original music and I can not even begin to describe how excited my sisters and I were when we first heard them. The fact that we have so many memories attached to those songs and these five guys are bringing them all back is just awesome. All four of their albums have songs that you just want to get up and dance to, so I highly recommend buying all four...NOW!

I have been lucky enough to see them live three times and will tell you now, it is the best night out ever! Last year, my sisters and I took our Mum and she loved it, then last night, the four of us went to The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester once again but this time our Dad came too. We kept looking over at him and were so happy seeing him smiling as they sang Acapella and did synchronised dance routines. He had a great time too! No matter how sore your feet may get from dancing or how sore your throat gets from singing your heart out, I assure you, you will not want the night to end. As soon as the first note hits, it's like a ripple effect of people standing up ready for a good time. It is one big party and just so much fun, I can't tell you. The guys are so happy, funny and energetic that it just rubs off on everyone in the audience. They are incredibly talented and from the minute they hit the stage, you can't help but smile! :)

I am going to end up repeating myself if I continue anymore and you will only end up seeing the words, amazing, talented, awesome, etc a million more times. So all I am going to say is Thank You, Mike, Mark, Timmy, Darren and Lachie for giving us a memorable night out to look forward to on our visits home each year. My sister and I even book tickets for their shows before we book our actual plane tickets home, in sheer determination that we HAVE to see them, but somehow for the last three years it's worked out. Dancing and singing and getting our Mum on a night out has made each trip home extra special and I can't wait for the next one! :)

Until next time go and buy their albums and find out more about The Overtones here...
