Keep calm and call the Nerd Herd!!

I am currently on my second 'Chuck' marathon with my husband, though this is probably my fourth 'Chuck' marathon thus far, due to my sisters and I being utterly obsessed. And I have to say, I simply can not get enough of this show. Now, you know if I like something I tend to talk about it...A LOT and, well, I happen to LOVE 'Chuck'. I have expressed on numerous occasions ("I heart New York" "I want my Nerd HQ") that it is my favourite show in the history of ever and honestly, each time I watch it that statement is well and truly cemented, backed up, justified and locked down, in my brain, as it just gets more and more, wait for it...AWESOME! :)

I love to love things and this show is so easy to fall in love with. It has everything from endearing and heart warming characters, to bad guys and kick ass hero's (Bryce Larkin anyone?) to down right hilarious and crazy (but oh so lovable) characters, to incredible actors (Zachary Levi, Scott Baluka, Vik Sahay, Scott Krinksy, Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Baldwin, Joshua Gomez, Ryan McPartlin, Sarah Lancaster, Mark Christopher Lawrence, ok so I was only going to name a few for the moment, but I just love them all!) to awesome story lines that have you wanting more and sitting on the edge of your seat, to so many laugh out loud moments as well as heart wrenching teary eyed moments, I could go on; it really has it all.

Even knowing now how it all plays out and how it ends, I still get caught up in every mission and completely lost in Burbank when I curl up and watch it. So, this past week I wanted to get a little creative and bake up some 'Chuck' love. I'm not usually one to mess with fondant and get too in to decorating, I mean, I love things to look pretty but I want them to taste good more. However, I have dabbled in fondant before and wanted to experiment. To start, I thought these sugar cookies would be nice and simple and just a whole lot of fun to do and to be honest I just can't help but smile when I look at them.

Did someone call the Nerd Herd?

What you will need:

Sugar cookie mix
Red food colouring
Black fondant or black sugar sheet
White frosting/buttercream
Nerd Herd stencil
Circle cookie cutter
Cookie sheet

*You don't need the Chuck box set to aid in your baking but you do need it in your life!*

What to do:

Prepare sugar cookie mix as directed on packet, add a few drops of red food colouring.

Roll out cookie dough and cut out circles.

Bake as instructed on packet.

When the cookies are done, take them out of the oven and leave to cool completely.

baking, chuck, nerd herd,

While the cookies are cooling, take your Nerd Nerd stencil and black sugar sheet/black fondant and cut out the little guy! :) When using the sugar sheet you will need to use scissors.

chuck, baking, food bloggers, nerd herd,

Now, whip up some white frosting. Really you can use anything you would like, from white chocolate to store bought icing, but I simply mixed a stick of Organic natural butter with a few cups of icing/confectioners sugar and I was good to go. I drew a circle first with an icing pen, just so I had a bit more of a guideline, and then spread the frosting in the middle with a spoon.

baking, chuck, nerd herd, cookies,

Once the cookies were all frosted, I placed the little guy in the center and...

I hope they make you smile too!
