Magic Kingdom and Staying Safe in the Sun.

Last weekend, Chris and I concluded his amazing birthday gift to me, a ticket to each Disney Park, with a trip to Magic Kingdom. If I really had to pick, I'd say Magic Kingdom is my favourite Disney park, so we saved it till last. With it being Memorial Day weekend, the park was bustling with people and it was also extremely hot, but we still had a wonderful time. Today I wanted to share a few pictures with you, because, well, it's Disney and I can't not take pictures. But also, I wanted to give you a few pieces of advice on how I have been learning to stay safe in this lovely Florida sunshine.

I've probably said it a hundred times but I never, ever take for granted days spent at Disney World with my husband. Every time I see the castle, I have to pause to say thank you, for each of the visits we have had. Disney, to me, is one of those places where I really get a sense of something bigger. Do you ever take in a sight or a scene that just makes you feel that? While we are all very important in our own right, there is just so much more to the world. Be it man made wonders like Disney or natural oceans and deserts, there is so much to marvel at and take in.

I was so excited that we booked way ahead of time to eat at the Beauty and the Beast restaurant. We ate there once before on our one year anniversary, but this time Chris was happy because we sat in the west wing room. It's dark and moody and every few minutes, thunder and lightening strike. Plus they have the rose in the corner. Very atmospheric and cool! Also, as always, the food was delicious. I got the vegetarian quiche!

Tips for Sun Safety!

1. Buy a cute little parasol! So, this isn't a necessity, they just look really, really cute. I have wanted to get one for the longest time but have still yet to actually buy one, only because I don't know where else I would use it besides Disney. On this particular day, I was very tempted. Moral of the story: definitely wear a hat or have something to protect your head. You don't want to ruin a day at Disney with headaches and sunburn. I say this from experience.

2. Take advantage of places at Disney giving you free cups of water and stay hydrated. You don't want to feel queasy while navigating through busy areas or spinning upside down on rides. So make sure every hour or two you stop and ask for a cup of water. That way you don't have to buy or carry around expensive bottles.

3. Wear sun cream and reapply frequently, especially after you've been on a water ride. Even if there is a nice breeze in Florida and you think there are a few clouds so you won't burn. Trust me when I say, you will. You don't always feel it straight way but the sun is so strong here and sun burn is no fun at all. Protect yourself and look after your skin.

4. Wear sunglasses. This is something that I have only recently started doing myself all the time. Even just walking to work. I found that I was always squinting, even when the sun didn't feel like it was too bright. I would get to work with the biggest headaches and it would ruin my day. Wearing sunglasses, even just for the short 5 minute walk has really helped, so I highly suggest wearing them when spending all day at a park. Like your skin and head, protect your eyes!

I hope you find these little tips useful. I know they seem like the most obvious of things, but they are often overlooked. Be prepared and look after yourself.

Is anyone planning a Disney or theme park trip soon? What other ways do you stay safe in the sun?

Happy Friday!
Love

    1. Aww, thank you so much. Glad they were helpful! :) I learnt my lesson after I turned in to a lobster a few weeks ago, when I didn't put sun cream on properly at the beach! :(

      Have a great weekend! xx

    1. Yay!! I love Disney during the holidays. It really is such a magical place! :) I've always wanted to go to one of their Halloween or Christmas parties. Have you been to one of them or do you have plans to go to the Christmas one?

  3. This makes me want to go to Disney so badly, going there and just being in that environment really makes me happy as well. That Beauty and the Beast restaurant sounds really cool, I didn't even know that existed!

    1. We did thank you! :) You definitely should when you get chance. I remember the first time we went to DisneyLand with our Dad when we were grown up, the minute we walked through the gates, we felt like kids again and could remember sitting on the pavement watching the parade! It was lovely! :)

      Thank you for reading! x
