Welcome to Spring Tag.

Happy Spring Everyone!

So according to our calendars, Spring officially starts today. Woohoo! We love this time of year and would go as far as to say that Easter is our second favourite holiday after Christmas. We love the pretty colours, the weather, the flowers and of course the Easter Eggs. We also love that Easter makes us think of all the wonderful family memories we have, from meals around our table in England, to spending an Easter with family in New York, to taking part in a little Easter procession at a church in Italy. It's just a lovely time of year.
Recently we did a Geeky Girl Tag on the blog and enjoyed answering the questions so much so we thought we would make up a tag for all of you. We wanted something fun to get into the spring spirit, plus it's an excuse to talk all things chocolate and pastel. Yay! We hope you enjoy it! Be sure to tag us in your posts and tweets so we can read your answers! Let's begin...

1. What is your favourite Spring flower?

Lucy: Without a doubt Daffodils. They are just so pretty and bright and when I see them I immediately smile. Where we lived growing up, Daffodils seemed to grow everywhere, so I have fond memories of walking past rows of them on our way to primary school or to Nanna and Gandad's house.

Kelly: Why must we always have the same answers for these?? :p Daffodils are my absolute favourite. When I see them they just make me think British sunshine and happiness. I can't wait to get some for my apartment.

2. Of all the pretty pastel colours this time of year, which do you like the most?

Lucy: I'd say yellow or turquoise. I love turquoise all year round but during Spring time it's extra pretty.

Kelly: I just want to say a rainbow of all of them. Yellow is my favourite colour, as it's a happy colour. But I love lilacs, pinks and mint at this time of year. Throw them all together and it's magic!

3. Must have Spring fashion item?

Lucy: I just ordered a few items from Asos after watching all Victoria from In The Frow's fashion week videos. I was feeling so inspired which lead me to making one or two purchases. In her pink video she shared a gorgeous flower print dress, I loved it so much I ordered one that has a slightly different cut. I'm so excited about it. I love dresses but have to admit I haven't been wearing them as much recently. I'm trying to spruce up my wardrobe a bit and Spring definitely has me in a floaty dress mood.

Kelly: Yikes, I'm not the best when it comes to fashion in general so the time of year doesn't really change much. However, I will say that I have made a conscious effort to try a little harder this year. With that being said I recently bought a tank top from Old Navy that has a bike on it with lemons for wheels...I know, right? So cute. I like fun tank tops when the suns out but I do love a good floaty dress.

4. We get to indulge in so much delicious chocolate come Easter time. What is your all time favourite Easter Egg?

Lucy: Arrrgh this is such a hard one. Any Cadbury's Dairy Milk egg is pretty awesome and you seriously can't go wrong with Mini eggs. Cracking open an egg to reveal more tiny pastel delicious eggs? Erm, yes please. However, I adore Italian Easter eggs. When we went to Italy for Easter as kids we had their Easter eggs for the first time and they were so beautiful and such fun, they had toys inside and were wrapped magnificently. We were so excited when last year we found an amazing Italian shop ten minutes from our apartment, where the owner imports all his Italian produce, Easter eggs included. Being older now I was able to appreciate the flavor of the chocolate more and Italian chocolate really is to die for.

Kelly: To go classically British, even though I do agree with Lucy, I am going for a Mini Egg Easter egg all the way. A few years ago, when we were working at our old primary school, one of the teachers got me a Mini Egg Egg that came with an actual Mini Egg mug too. I still have that mug and I love it. Mini Eggs are just the best.

5. Do you have any Easter traditions? Family meals, going to mass, baking?

Lucy: We grew up going to mass and taking part in Lent. These days family meals are still tradition and of course, making Pastierra with Grandad. Though for the past three years Kelly and I have been making it on our own. It's fun to Skype and show Jen and Grandad as they are making it too.

Kelly: Always a family meal and making Pastiera with Grandad and our sister.

6. Share with us a fun Easter memory.

Lucy: I loved the Easter we spent in Italy. We still talk about our almond branches and branches with cheese hanging from them, that we carried around the church. We actually still need to look up what the meaning behind the cheese branches were, but still, it was just a beautiful time to be in Italy and no one makes Easter eggs as pretty as the Italians.

Kelly: When we were about 10, we went to New York to visit our family there for the first time and it just so happened to be Easter. We dyed eggs, as our sister Jen sat eating them - she loved boiled eggs as a kid. We also got our first taste of America's Easter baskets. Mum's cousin made all four of us one each and they were the prettiest things. Inside Jen's she had a book about a rabbit name Cooper and each year when we send cards to our family we have to mention the song from it. Lovely memories.

7. What is your spring beauty must have?

Lucy: With the heat in Florida I love my NYX mattifying powder as I can tend to get oily. I actually just bought a Boscia mattifying spray which I'm excited to test out too. Ooh and I just love bright blushes that give you that lovely Spring, fresh glow!

Kelly: I feel like as it gets warmer I have to have some kind of mattifying powder as my face can get kind of shiny in the sunshine. Daily moisturizer is a must no matter what time of year too, but my absolute must have, if this even counts as beauty, is blistex lip cream. All of our family swear by it. There is nothing worse than having dry lips and this works wonders. We seriously can't be without it.

8. You're on Spring break. Where are you going? What are you doing?

Lucy: So, I am dying to go to San Francisco and I think that would make a fun place to explore for a Spring break. I have a list of places I want to visit there, the place just intrigues me and makes me happy. But also, if I could jump on a plane right this second I would love to go to Italy. You guys know how much we adore Italy and I feel our passion grows stronger each day. We need to go back! :)

Kelly: Take a guess!! :p Italy!! I want to go back so bad, to see family, explore, be brave and practice my Italian, and of course to eat. The last time we were there we were 14 years old. I dream about it constantly and definitely want to plan a trip with my sisters soon.

9) Favourite Spring activity?
Lucy: All things baking and anything that involves mini eggs. :p
Kelly: Hmm, I like making an effort to go outside more with my husband. Either to the park or for little walks. I also love baking with all the different chocolate that you can get now.

10) We've indulged in Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and Peppermint Mocha's, but now that Spring is here, what is your go to drink?

Lucy: I'm really interested in reading other people's answer for this one, as unlike Fall and Pumpkin spice, no Spring specific drink comes to mind. Do Starbucks have a Spring drink? I'm very much a coffee lover and my usual cup of Lavazza is still my go to right now.

Kelly: I'd say come spring I like more fruity drinks. Whether I'm making fruit smoothies or having frozen lemonade, It just feels like it's a fruity time of year.

We tag all of YOU! Here are the questions so it's easy to copy and paste.

  1. I'd say my favorite spring flower is Lilly of the Vally. Not sure if you gals are familiar with them or not but, I've loved them since I was a child. They amaze me how they can be so tiny yet have so much detail and, beauty. They are just coming up now in my flower garden and, apart of me wants to act like a child and, lay on the ground and, gaze at their beautiful blooms for hours.
As far as spring colors this year I'm feeling strong about yellow and, teal. I had to do quite a bit of searching on-line recently to find new curtains, pillows, rugs and, a few decor pieces that would match or tie into my red sofa. I ended up making it work and, love my living room at the moment. I just think when spring comes everything tends to need to feel light and, airy. I think that way with spring fashion as well flowing skirts, sandles and, soft thin sweaters for those chilly days. As a child I was always dressed in brand new frilly dress full of lace, ribbons, and bows. The dresses where normally made by my Grandmother and, my Mom would make sure we had perfect white socks with lace trim and, white shoes, we had hats, and white gloves as well. We were adorable children if I may say so myself haha. We would go to Church early in the morning then come home to find that an Easter Bunny had left us each basket of candy, coloring books, things about the meaning of Easter and, my favorite Cadbury Eggs. I'll always be a Cadbury lover I think.
My favorite spring activity it admiring all the beautiful flowers that are blooming, and planting a few myself. Then I sit back depending on what time of the day it is and, enjoy a Carmella Camacho, hot tea,or fruit smoothie. Thanks for allowing me to share with you.

    1. We know the name Lilly of the Vally but just had to look up a picture of them then to remind ourselves of what they look like, and how beautiful! :) They look so delicate and pretty. We love that they are start to come up now. Spring is just a wonderful time of year to enjoy the garden.
Your living room sounds stunning with those colours and we have to agree with you with the flowing skirts and thin sweaters, they are perfect at this time of year. We adore that your Grandmother made you dresses to wear, that is so sweet. :) Yay for Cadburys, we really don't think it can be beat. Your traditions of going to church and coming home to find all the treats from the Easter bunny made us smile, we love that you got colouring books. We miss colouring books! Oooh that sounds so relaxing and just amazing, we home you get to enjoy many Spring days sat in your garden with a nice yummy drink! :) Thank you so much for reading and commenting on our blog, we absolutely loved reading you comment! :) xxxx

    1. We are jealous of everyone sharing their Daffodil pictures as we have yet to see one here in Florida, but we are so happy you are enjoying them! :) Ooh yes, we can't go without the NYX product, it's awesome. We recently purchased a Boscia mattifying spray, but think it might have to go back as we're not really noticing a difference. The NYX one is awesome and especially, like you said, for such a great price! :) Thank you for reading! :) xxx
