Refreshed and Revitalized.

It's been a while since I did a beauty style post, but after getting some gorgeous treats from my husband in my stocking last year, I thought it was time to do a little update on some of my skincare favourites and what I have found I really can't live without.

I was never one to buy expensive face washes or face creams. I grew up using whatever my Mum bought, usually Oil of Olay and a Simple or St Ives face wash, and I have to say they always worked fine. I never really gave too much thought into my skin and they seemed to clean it and hydrate it no problem. However, as I got older I started to notice lots of texture and little bumps on my forehead. I found that my face washes were making my skin feel tight and dry and that nothing could combat my dry skin when it came to the winter months. I often felt fed up and got to a point where I didn't like wearing foundation as the texture would come though making my foundation look cakey.

About three or four years ago I was spoilt by my Mom in law, when she bought me a set of Origins face creams that my sister in law swore by. In addition, I had got talking to the gorgeous Angie from Chocolate and Lipstick and she had recommended that I try a face wash containing salicylic acid. I purchased this Cera Ve face wash and since then I haven't looked back.

In the last few years I have had months where I haven't used these products, due to them being a little on the expensive side, and I must say I could tell a difference. As I mentioned above, my husband surprised me with an Origins gift set, containing all my go to products, for Christmas and I was beyond excited and my skin so thankful. So if you have coupon codes or can take advantage of the sales when you can, these are the products I highly recommend.

Origins, Gin Zing day cream.
As soon as I put this on my face in the morning I immediately feel refreshed. My skin soaks it all up and feels like it can breathe. It's not sticky or greasy and it's so light and feels silky smooth on my skin. It's available in Macy's and Sephora here in the States and I think back home in the UK, some Boots carry it!

Origins, night a mins.
This cream smells delightful, every time I get in to bed, Chris says I smell like cake. It has a lovely lemony scent that I adore. It's a lot thicker than the day cream, which I feel is great, I feel pampered when I put it on and like I'm really nourishing my skin while I sleep. In the morning I wake up and my skin feels super hydrated and soft.

Origins charcoal mask.
I'm terrible at remembering to do masks, but this one I love and try to do at least once a week. I will sometimes even just put it on my nose while I am doing other things, because I love it so much. I never have high hopes for products. I'm not sure why, I just don't always believe your skin is going to miraculously change, but I truly see a difference every time I use this mask. My skin feels smoother and the pores appear so much smaller, almost invisible. I love it.

Cera Ve face wash.
I feel lost when I don't use this face wash. It is my absolute go to. I was blown away with the results after using it for a couple of months. My skin and the texture was visibly clearer and I wasn't getting irritated or down about bumps on my forehead. It honestly cleared it up. I notice a significant difference when I go a few weeks without it. You can find this wash in Walmart, Target. and Walgreens.

What are your favourite creams and face washes?

Have a beautiful day.
Love

  1. I never cared much about skincare, either when I was younger. I think now that we are so exposed to YouTube and bloggers that younger people feel the need more now to take care of their skin! I started being better in my 20's and now that I'm 30, I'm being like crazy about making sure I take care of it every day! My Mom always told me "if you learn nothing else from me, drink tons of water and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!" Lol

One of my favorite creams is the Skin's Shang Ri La from Lush. I don't have it right now and I'm missing it terribly, but it's also on the pricey side so I can relate to what you're going through! But I always feel like if I spend more money on good face products I won't have to buy as much makeup... but alas, I'm addicted to buying makeup anyway!

    1. I haven't tried much from Lush, but I have heard so many great things! :) I will have to look out for the Shang Ri La and maybe try a sample! :) Aww we definitely learnt that from our Mum too, she was always moisturizing and taught us to do the same! :) xxx
