An interview with: Mickie James!

Today's interview is rather serial for us. For those of you who don't know Mickie James, she is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world, a country singer and a Mum. She has wrestled for all of the top wrestling companies you can think of, has preformed at the CMA music festival, has had albums in the top 20 Billboards Heatseekers charts and to top it all of she is a wonderful, wonderful person.
Mickie was an inspiration to us throughout our wrestling careers. We modeled our first wrestling outfits after her, watched her religiously and thought she just kicked ass. She was who we wanted to be in the ring, and after her match at Wrestlemania 22, our love for wrestling was stronger than ever. If anyone asked us which one of our idols we would, given the opportunity, love to work with one day, our answer was always Mickie James. So in 2010 when we got that chance to wrestle her, we couldn't have been more excited, albeit extremely nervous. We needn't have worried though, as not only is Mickie beyond amazing in the ring, she is down to earth and incredible out of it too. Our match with her is an experience we will never forget, she taught us so much in the ring and out and we will be forever grateful for the opportunity to work with one of our idols. At the risk of rambling too much, we shall end this introduction here. We hope you enjoy this interview as much as we did! :)

1) Working with kids, we know how much hard work it can be looking after them, they can definitely keep you on your toes. But at the same time it is so incredibly rewarding and we always have happy stories to tell and can't help smiling at the end of the day. How do you balance being a Mom and being on the road? What are some of your favourite things you have got to experience since being a Mom to your beautiful little boy?
I’M STILL NOT QUITE SURE HOW I SEEM TO MANAGE IT ALL. I’M GRATEFUL FOR NICK. HE’S AN AMAZING HELP AND AN EVEN BETTER DADDY. I HONESTLY COULDN’T DO IT ALL WITHOUT HIM AND MY FAMILY. I GET TO TRAVEL ALL AROUND THE WORLD WITH MY SON, AND STILL DO WHAT I LOVE. THATS A HUGE BLESSING! ITS NOT EASY BY ANY MEANS BUT WE MANAGE. I CAN’T THINK HOW A MOM WHO WORKS A 9 TO 5 JOB MANAGES IT ALL. I MOSTLY WORK THE WEEKENDS SO WHEN I’M NOT ON THE ROAD I GET TO BE HOME AND A FULL TIME MOMMY. ITS A JUGGLE BUT I’VE ALWAYS APPRECIATED A LITTLE INSANITY.

2) Your Fiance is British and you have been to the UK many a time before and are actually heading back there this October with GFW. What are some of your favourite things about British culture? Is there a town or place there that you are particularly fond of?
MY HUSBAND NOW, BUT THATS MY FAULT! LOL. AND A YEAR LATER WE ARE STILL HEADING BACK TO THE UK IN OCTOBER. THIS TIME WITH OUR OWN PROMOTION ALONG WITH OR BUSINESS PARTNER (COOL HAND LUKE I LIKE TO CALL HIM… ) IN THE UK. SUPERSTAR PROMOTIONS!!! WHICH WE’RE ALL REALLY EXCITED ABOUT. WITH THE SUCCESS OF THE GFW SHOWS WE RAN & THE RELATIONSHIPS WE’VE BUILT WITH ALL THESE GREAT PEOPLE WE’VE BEEN ABLE TO KEEP GROWING. SO I’M EXCITED ABOUT THAT, PLUS ANY CHANCE TO COME BACK AND HAVE MUM’S SUNDAY ROAST IS A GOOD ONE TO ME. HAHA. I LOVE THE COUNTRY SIDE, THE ROLLING GREEN FIELDS, THE STONE FENCES.. IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I SHOULD BE TRAVELING IN CARRIAGE THROUGH THE HILLSIDES.

3) We miss our jolly old England terribly and can't help but ask another question regarding our home sweet home. Do you enjoy British food? Have you been introduced to anything weird and wonderful? Our husbands still can't get over chip barms! :p (Fries inside a bread bun)
I HAVE NOT HAD THAT! HAHA. I DO LOVE THE FOOD. MY FAVORITE IS PROBABLY A PROPER FISH & CHIPS AND I WONT TOUCH A BLOOD ANYTHING… NO THANK YOU!

4) We are avid readers here on the blog, what would your genre of choice be when reaching for a book?
THESE DAYS THEY ARE ALL CHILDREN’S BOOKS. BUT THE LAST BOOK I READ WAS “LET’S PRETEND THIS NEVER HAPPENED” BY JENNY LAWSON AKA “THE BLOGGESS” WHICH WAS FREAKING HILARIOUS. SHE’S HILARIOUS. I’LL EVEN SHARE THE LINK. http://thebloggess.com/lets-pretend-this-never-happened-a-mostly-true-memoir/

5) We love following you on Instagram, you are very family orientated, often sharing pictures of your Mom and Dad, we love that they come to shows with you sometimes too. We feel blessed that our Dad took us to every wrestling show and looked after us and we are incredibly close with both our parents. Have you always had a strong bond with your Mom and Dad?
AWE THANKS! I THINK IM INCREDIBLY BORING ON INSTAGRAM! MOSTLY FOOD, DOG, AND BABY PICS! I THINK SURELY PEOPLE ARE LIKE... OK WHERES THE HOT PICTURE ALREADY?! LOL. YES I AM CLOSE WITH MY FAMILY. THEY’VE ALWAYS SUPPORTED ME AND I’M GRATEFUL FOR THAT. I’VE BEEN THROUGH, SEEN, AND BEEN BLESSED WITH ALOT OF FRIENDS & THINGS. BUT THE ONE THING I’VE LEARNED THROUGH THE YEARS, THAT ONE OLD REGURGITATED SAYIN, THAT WHEN EVERYTHING FADES AWAY… YOUR FAMILY WILL ALWAYS STILL BE THERE… AND STILL BE YOUR NUMBER ONE FAN IN LIFE NO MATTER WHAT. THATS REAL!

6) We love baking and pretty much food in general. Do you have a " I can't live without it" sweet treat?
I LOVE TO COOK! I ESPECIALLY LOVE TO BAKE ALTHOUGH I DON’T THINK MY PATIENCE IS GOOD ENOUGH TO EVER GET IT PERFECT. MY 2 VICES ARE SWEET AND SALTY… YOU PUT THOSE TOGETHER ITS HEAVEN! THE FAT GIRL ON THE INSIDE DOES THE HAPPIEST DANCE YOU’VE EVER SEEN! LOL. LIKE THOSE CHOCOLATE DRIZZLED POTATO CHIPS THEY RELEASED OVER THE HOLIDAYS. I ALMOST LOST MY MIND.

7) You have had such an amazing career inside and out of the squared circle. As far as wrestling goes, if you had to pick one storyline that was the most fun for you, which one would it be?
OH THATS SO HARD! THEY WERE ALL SO GREAT AND I HAVE THESE INCREDIBLE MEMORIES FROM EACH OF THEM. I THINK THE OBVIOUS ONE IS MY DEBUT ANGLE WITH TRISH. I GOT TO COME IN WITH THIS AMAZING CHARACTER. I GOT TO COME IN AND ALIGN MYSELF WITH AND FUED WITH THE TOP WOMAN IN THE INDUSTRY. WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD THE STORY ALL THE WAY TO WRESTLEMANIA AND I WAS GIVEN THE TIME TO REALLY GET OVER. IT WAS MY DREAM COMING TRUE. THAT MOMENT I WILL NEVER FORGET.

8) Over the years you have stepped into the ring with tons of talented wrestlers, who have been some of your favourites?
THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. THE CHANCE TO WORK WITH LITA BEFORE HER ORIGINAL DEPARTURE FROM WWE WAS A DREAM COME TRUE FOR ME. I ADORE AMY, SHES ALWAYS BEEN KIND TO ME, AND LOOKED OUT FOR ME. I’M THANKFUL FOR HER FRIENDSHIP. BUT IN ALL THE YEARS I’D KNOWN HER I’D NEVER REALLY WORKED WITH HER. AT THE TIME SHE WAS THE LAST OF THAT GOLDEN ERA OF WOMENS WRESTLING.

TO MAIN EVENT TNA WITH TARA IN THAT CAGE MATCH WAS A HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR US AND WOMENS WRESTLING. ITS A RARITY WOMEN EVER MAIN EVENT THE SHOW SO THAT WAS SO HUGE FOR THE BOTH OF US. PLUS I JUST LOVED WORKING LISA. SHE ALWAYS BROUGHT HER A GAME… AND SOMETIMES A POTATO OR TWO…. OOOOJUUUCCCCHHH!!! JK. INSIDE JOKE

WORKING WITH MELINA WAS AWESOME. WE HAD SOME REALLY FUN MATCHES. SHE WAS A HELL CAT AND WE HAD THIS GENUINE FIERY CHEMISTRY TOGETHER WHERE WE LEFT IT ALL IN THE RING.

EVERY NIGHT I STEPPED IN THE RING WITH BETH WAS A NIGHT OFF. SHE AND I HAD THIS AMAZING CONNECTION IN THERE. YOU DON’T HAVE THAT WITH MANY PEOPLE. THEY SAY ITS A DANCE OUT THERE AND WITH HER ITS EXACTLY HOW IT FELT. IN FACT ONE OF THE BEST MATCHES I’VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE WAS AGAINST HER IN FAIRBANKS ALASKA. WE GOT A LOCKER ROOM STANDING OVATION… AGENTS AND ALL… THAT WAS INCREDIBLE.

9) We are big fans of your music. What is your "Must own" album/record? Which artist inspires you the most?
THANK YOU SO MUCH! THAT REALLY MEANS A LOT TO ME. I’M WORKING ON A NEW ONE AS WE SPEAK SO FINGERS CROSSED TO HAVE SOMETHING NEW OUT SOON. I LOVE ALL TYPES OF MUSIC… SO MY PLAYLIST IS A HODGEPODGE OF RANDOMNESS. BUT AS FAR AS MY MUST HAVE ALBUM. ID GO WITH SKYNYRD, THE STONES, PERCY SLEDGE, REBA, PINK, PRINCE, AND OF COURSE ANYTHING JACK JOHNSON!

10) You have travelled all over the world with various Wrestling companies, where would you send us if we wanted a once in a life time travel experience?
I’VE NOT GOT TO GO EVERYWHERE I WANTED TO GO YET… YET IS THE KEY WORD THERE! BUT OF ALL THE PLACES I’VE BEEN SO FAR ID SAY AUSTRALIA. I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE THERE. I SAW THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SUNSET I’D EVER SEEN. THE BEACHES, THE CULTURE, THE NIGHTLIFE, THE KOALA’S! I JUST LOVED IT!

Thank you so so much to Mickie James for taking the time to answer our questions, you are beyond awesome and we are so happy to have you a part of our blog! :)
